DETERMiNED

DETERMiNED illustrates the challenges of belonging in a society with little patience or compassion for people with different abilities. We accompany Victor, a brand-new bellhop in an opulent hotel, as he faces the difficulties of his first day of work. Being neurodivergent and with sensitivity to loud sounds (misophonia), Victor navigates the chaos of an overwhelming sensory environment, forges unexpected bonds, and becomes a role model of empathy and inclusion.

OUR WHY

Determined seeks to join the incredible chorus of diversity, equity, and inclusion advancements in UAE and around the world for people of determination.

Inspired by family and friends in our own lives, we created this short film as a platform for their voices to be heard, and their stories to be felt.

Because every human being has a fundamental need to belong and to have a purpose.

Our society is only healthy and whole when everyone is included. Each of us is a unique and important piece of the whole picture. Even if just one is missing, the picture is incomplete.

Throughout the process of developing the film, we were humbled by the experiences we encountered – raw, painful, and beautiful in their own right.

So much so, that the title we chose took on a more profound meaning than we originally intended: that each of us has a responsibility to be determined to break down barriers in our society.
